View Full Version : Tracker Group Buy

Right,
i'm trying to organise a group buy for trackers, I used to install them but have not become a dealer since becoming self employed as i need to buy a minimum amount of units as a first order. If there are at least 10 people who want them I will set it up, and arrange installation at a show next year. Cost should be around £239 inc VAT installed (20% off normal price) depending on the price of space at a show to install (any show organisers want to 'donate' space let me know!!) I need to put up a marquee as they need to be installed out of sight of onlookers. Subs would be paid to tracker they are £101.29+VAT per year or £276.60 +VAT for as long as you own the vehicle.

Price includes installation, although definate price cannot be given until I know where it will take place and how moch thats likely to cost.
There is a subscription payable to keep the unit active, this can be paid either yearly, or you can pay once and that will cover you for as long as you own the car.
In the event of theft:
Stage 1:
Vehicle owner contacts TRACKER HQ and the police to inform that their vehicle has been stolen.

Stage 2:
TRACKER HQ activates the unit hidden in the stolen vehicle. The vehicle is now emitting a silent land based radio signal.

Stage 3:
The silent signal can now be picked up by any of the UK's 52 police forces that are within the vicinity of the stolen vehicle. The signal will direct the police to the exact location of the stolen vehicle.

Stage 4:
On customer request, a uniformed guard waits with your vehicle until it is recovered to a destination of your choice - anywhere in mainland Britain. This service applies only to stolen vehicles located within mainland Great Britain.

There are other systems on the market, but this is the nest one for an aircooled car. Most systems use GPS for location, and this needs the GPS antenna to be in view of the sky - no problem on modern vehicles, but the antenna cannot see through metal so cannot be installed in a covert location due to the metal dashboard. The Tracker Retrieve product uses a radio frequency so can be hidden in any vehicle.

I figured there might be some admin charge for transfering ownership.
If Sandown was the venue I think I can add one more to the list.

Glasgow is a long way for me, but it would depend on numbers. Vanfest is an option also. Best place for info is www.tracker.co.uk (http://www.tracker.co.uk ) it's the Tracker Retrieve that i'm using. Only Tracker approved installers can fit the product, you need specialised equipment to setup and test also.

Mummy, which shows would suit you?

following on for the thicko

we pay 230ish - does this include the 1st years 'rental' or is this then an additional fee?

and if cash was tight at the end of the year - can you then 'liven' the unit up at a later date?

probably should've looked at their faq's I know - but might help other decide!

hi predator, you might want to review your prices as there subscription fee has gone up,you can also transfer it to a new owner, but they need to pay the subscription fee again.also you need to keep subscription fee up as they wont let you pay it up if your vehicle gets stolen with ti out of date.i have one on my bay and wished i had got one fitted on my lt :(

A point i will raise reference Trakers and similar... not saying they are not worth it etc....
I have the 24 hr monitor system installed...

however... they have to be powered.... this power must be independant of the main power source...
so.. even using lithium iron batteries or similar long life...... these will eventually fail...
I was informed that my Tracker should be checked regularly by an approved installed.... i get this done as part of my annual service.

I'd like to know what an Ex Tracker installers view on this is.
I would also say I'd consider it very hard to hide a Tracker in a Split van
And.. I found mine in my old car after about 30mins of looking for it

The battery is only for back up, the unit is powered from the vehicle battery. It is not easy to hide the unit where no-one will find it in any vehicle, but a decent installer will be able to do so. 30 minutes of looking i have to say suggests it was well hidden, you knew that there was one in the vehicle to find, any thief does not. If you have a vehicle fitted with a tracking device for security the last thing you want to do is advertise the fact, any vehicle you see with stickers suggesting there's a tracker installed most likely does not.

Do these things need maintenance? Could you fit one in a heater channel whilst doing a body off? (Not running heating!)
