So I'm going to show off some of my 'work' - if you can call it that.
Bear in mind I've never had any tuition in makeup or anything so I'm not amazing.. it's mostly very experimental :)
I have applied to do a degree in makeup and prosthetics for performance at the University of the Arts London this year so these are some of the pics I'm gonna be including in my 'folio :)

To be honest there's not normally a budget for MUA but I'd be happy to cover your travel expenses and you'll have some work for your portfolio. I have got some magazine work lined up so would be good for tearsheets :D

I went to college for a year and I have 6 qualifications in make up, and I think your make up looks great. Really go for it with the London thing.

One of the girls from my course is now in her 2nd year at London College of Fashion, doing a degree course in make up. I have 2 kids so kinda got left behind, but I'm so proud of her.

I really do think your make up shows a great talent, and as already said, the photos are great too.

Believe it or not, she hasn't got a myspace page:eek: I'll be seeing her in a few weeks, we're doing the make up for a local production of Les Miserables over easter.

I'll ask her some hints and tips then. Let me know what kinda things you want to know;)

ah okay, well basically i went to the open day in december and they told us what your portfolio had to include, so i know what to include in it but i don't know how to make it stand out from the rest. i just want to know what she did to get into the uni, because the course i am applying to has only 18 places and over 250 people usually apply!! :( also, i'd like to know what sort of questions they ask in the interview (if i get one) - i'm guessing they'll ask about the obvious things like famous MUA's, productions and films, but yeh.. this is my dream and i seriously *need* to get into this uni!!

I love playing with make up.. in fact.. i was messin around today. . got like.. a limey green, blended into a jadey colour with blue and green liners underneath and stuff..

as with a lot of peeps used to do a lot of make up and special
effects
self taught to a large degree
there are some amazing technical books around
most are American but can be sourced through
local library's
i got rejected as do a high number of people
as you know compertition is fierce out there
But there is plenty of work out there,you just have to set your sights lower to start with ;0)

i cut my teeth on local theatrical groups,of which there are many
they normally are more than welcome of help with the production
it all adds to your experience and more importantly thy Hallowed Portfolio

it helps if you know others in the business,or other people in familiar fields
prosthetics is a good field to dabble with as there are only so many layers of make up you can use
