Do you have an old digi cam in the back of a drawer gathering dust ? put it to use as an IR camera :)

All digi cams have an infrared filter on the lens to block IR 'light', removing this filter and adding a natural light filter (some exposed film) turns your old camera into a fun device.

I have an old Fuji A101 that I don't use, so followed this tutorial:

to make it IR only.

here are examples of the sort of images it now takes.

if you don't fancy taking your camera apart, you can get an IR filter (if your camera can use filters) instead. the downside is that due to the built in IR filter, you'll need to do long exposure images to get enough IR 'light' past the filter to take a picture.

I've seen a few people talk about IR photography recently, mainly because the camera I just bought has a removable filter so you can do it without having to mod your camera body!

I might have to have a bit of a play, see what I can produce.

One of those areas I want to play with but obviously digital has stopped me so far :)

I love the sunny day pic :)
