View Full Version : Gearbox SPANNERBOY - what gearboxes do you use on your T3 TDi conversions?
Just curious really - I'd have thought ALL the stock boxes were geared too low to really take advantage of the motor.
Do you have them re-cogged or use bigger wheels than stock?

The cheapest option is to get an AAP ,it has the best final drive, but you realy need to lengthen fifth gear though.
This is what I recomend

A reasonable choice off the shelf I guess, but surely the AAR would be better with the LSD but I figured that they'd both still be a bit low geared to really take advantage.

An AAR is still geared wrong for a tdi as the power band is all mid rev range,an AAR is a petrol box originaly,as an alternative a 4 speed diesel box is better .
I run an AAR in my bluestar.

Of course, I'd only been matching the top end :o
Thought the LSD might help stop lighting up the inside wheel at T-junctions ;)
