Thanks Mark, it's the early one I have on my '77.
Going to be a hell of a job refurbing it though :-(
Might see how much to get it done properly - don't fancy spending a few hundred quid on rubbers, parts and a canvas and finding I've not done it right.
Have only had a few weeks and it hasn't been rained on yet but the canvas is worn out in the corners and the rubbers are perished - dried up and cracked - all the way round.
    Appreciate your help
    Thanks
    David

Hi - you seem to know a bit about poptops ;-)
Is there a difference between the pre '75 tops and ones fitted to the later ('77) model? Is it just the concertina folds or is there another difference? Just Kampers sell springs but they state up to '75 - my experience of asking them about slightly off the beaten track stuff is that they don't really know and they'd rather say a part will fit than lose a sale.
Mine needs a refurb and I'm considering doing it myself rather than pay out £300+ for someone else to do it.
Thanks very much - your advice and tips are invaluable.
    Best wishes,
    David

Hi there! Just came on to see who was about and what's been happening and saw your post about your mate with the drink problem. I'm a recovered alki, nearly 7 years, and I hear all the warning signs! What people have said is right, you shouldn't have him in your home if you're not sure how he will be, especially if there are youngsters about, the last thing we alki's think of are other people and their feelings!! It can be tough both for you and him but you have to have strong boundaries!
On top of that if he is an alcoholic you wont be able to stop him drinking, even if he wants to stop, if he gets the urge to drink he will need to drink! It's the same as people that smoke, if they don't get their fix they start to come off the rails!
I don't know where you are, or your mate, but I tried every way to quit and it wasn't until I was truely beaten that I went into a 12 step fellowship and it's the only thing I know that works!
If you want more info or to find out where meetings are both the A.A. and C.A. websites are great. It's a huge step and like someone posted, the first step, asking for help, is the most difficult, but then there are more difficult steps to follow, changing attitudes and behaviors that have become second nature!
Also, if A.A. wasn't a big success there are other fellowships, especially if your man is on drugs as well, there's Cocaine Anonymous, which I'm a members of, and then there's Narcotics Anonymous, so if he's honestly ready to stop there are loads of ways to do it and loads of people ready to help!
If you want more info, help, support or guidance you can always email me, myknfaye@hotmail.co.uk and I'll see what I can do!
Chin up and well done for trying, a lot of people wouldn't! Trust me I know!
