| Chat/Discussion Kind of like a VW club online - you can sit in our virtual pub and talk about whatever you want to. All opinions are valid, but please no insulting (other than to our intelligence,) abusive or libellous posts. Please feel free to post your opinion on any given subject, but also be aware that others have the equal right to disagree with you - and some will certainly tell you so. No 'For Sale' or 'Want To Buy' ads, plugs for your business, links to 'for sale' ads or Ebay links to your (or your mate's) auction (please use the VZi 'Classifieds' section) - this also includes thinly veiled "What's my car worth?" threads too (please use the 'Dude! What's My Car Worth?' forum) - and please don't use just to post links to other VW forums or websites - we are aware that other sites exist (obviously), but blatant 'plugs' (poaching) will simply be deleted. |

Oh well, I gave it a go. Some of it went well, some of it I wasn't happy with but for the people who put in the earlier requests it might tick the right boxes.
The bit with Freestyle Express over Passion works really well though
Here's the result:
http://www.mixcloud.com/lloydi/vzi-o...l-request-mix/
Tracks that made it in are:
Meltdown - Quartz
The Sun Rising - Beloved
Acid Tracks - Phuture
Don't Hold Back - Blapps Posse
Salsa House - Richie Rich
Total Confusion (Confusion mix) - A Homeboy, a Hippie and a Funky Dread
Passion - Gat Decors
Don't Stop The Rock - Freestyle Express
Tricky Disco - Tricky Disco
French Kiss - Lil Louis
Gotta Turn the Music Up - MC Showbiz and the Lap 1 Crew
Rock This Place - Mr Lee
Dextrous - Nightmares On Wax
LFO - LFO
Radio Babylon - Meat Beat Manifesto
Humanoid - Stakker
Let Me Show You - K-Klass
The Bee - The Scientist
My Sound - Beltram
Tainted Love - Impedence
Horsepower - CJ Bolland
Don't Go - Awesome 3
On - Aphex Twin
Let Me Be Your Fantasy - Baby D
Sweet Harmony - Liquid
Dreams (Original) - Quench
On A Ragga Tip - SL2
Hypnosis (SL2 Remix) - Psychotropic
As I said, not perfect, but it was fun having a go :-)
Enjoy. I hope

Wicked - having a listen right now, that's a tough track list to put together - not sure if I'd be up for the challenge! What kit did you use? I've got SL1210 mk2's, which I've owned since 1991. My g/f has CDJ1000's as well as Technics (and a fancy DJM600 mixer that I covet) but neither of us has made the jump to mixing with a laptop yet. I love my vinyl too much (and have too much of it lol). Nice one

And I'd forgotten how ropey the timing is on some old tracks - pre computer edits, timing goes out (e.g. Humanoid Stakker, the edits are proper fucked, can totally throw out the mix). Back in the day I'd know the danger points to avoid, but I've forgotten where they are!

I have a lot of vinyl, still have SL1201 Mk2s, but also have the digi setup:
- Hercules RMX console
- Stanton DaScratch
- Traktor Scratch Pro (with control vinyl)
- Akai LPD8 controller
Too many 'toys' distracts though. So much to concentrate on. Not as simple as vinyl, but many more possibilities!

Oooooffff!!! Nice set up you've got there mate I know what you mean about the timing - some of the old tracks weren't quantised at all, and the beats are all over the place. Zero B - Lock Up would be a prime example for me. With the oldskool stuff I tend to use cut mixes quite often, whereas I'll leave the mix in for ages with the more modern tribal or breaks that I play.
Here's a pic of my deck room:
it's pretty lo-tech though!
