surprise parties when people say they don't want a party... WTF!

Mate of mine is 40 soon. Apparently he doesn't want a party... and I know if he says he doesn't he doesn't. But a party is being planned anyway.

Maybe I'm a killjoy and out of step... but I'd be pissed off myself.

I told my family I didn't want anything other than our usual meal together... and that's what we had.

Equally my wife is 40 next birthday and has told me specifically to not let her sister plan a surprise party.

Go with the flow.I always said that I don't want a party...until one year there was a surprise party for me.I was delighted that a lot of people that I hadn't seen in a long time turned up.It was the best night ever.

I think that a lot of folk don't hold parties due to the fact that they fear no-one will show up.
