Default Too rusty? '69 Bug

I collected my latest Dub today, a Kobalt Blue 1969 1500 Beetle...

...it's actually my wifes Christmas present.

4 previous owners, original carpets and interior, and next to no welding. Needs a bit now though including heater channel ends, and the spare wheel well. Comes with new wings, although they have been painted the wrong blue!!, all repair panels needed, and a shit load of spares bits, oh and a set of 4 1/2"+5 1/2" Empi Sprintstars, soon to be forsale or swap for a set Chrome OEM's of the same sizes.

Plan is to have it MOT'd, taxed and insured by Christmas day, I shall be attacking with a grinder tomorrow

Thanks for the support

Yes she knows, she had to fill in the V5 yesterday, but she'll get the keys wrapped up on Christmas Day.

The matt blue does look good, but I've got to spray brand new wings so it's going shiny.

Right then, brace yourselves I've got 20 odd pics for you

Up she goes, as high as the axles stands will go...

...this ain't good, but a repair panel came with the car...

...brand new adjustable beam, it's never seen the road, this what standing for 18months does for ya...

...rusty and flaking paint, but remarkbably solid...

...both heater channel edges need replacing, the rear of both is quite bad, these are going to be a challenge...

...the bonnets a bit knackered too...

Right, that was all before I attack her with the wire brush on the grinder, this is what I got...

...more holes appears too...

...the holes her are in repair panels that where only done about 4 years ago!!...

...even the bonnet has got holes in it...

...this should be an easy repair ...

I decided to start with the inner arch on the offside, ...

...cut out the rot...

...fabricate a repair panel for the heater channel, the metal these came from a 1971 bus...

...and welded in...

...then the inner arch itself...

...then a coat Rust Beater, I've had good results with this in the past...

...this is some of the spares that came with the Bug...

...but what I really need is a nice pair of running boards, anyone?

Also, anyone know if an exhaust with a pre heat riser on the right will fit in place of one that has it on the left?
