Aircooled Mechanical TechA Q & A Forum devoted to Aircooled Mechanical Issues. Got a problem? Then ask in here. Please, no 'For Sale' or 'Want To Buy' ads, plugs for your 'business', links to 'for sale' ads or Ebay links to your (or your mate's) auction (use the VZi 'Classifieds' section) - this also includes thinly veiled 'What's My Car Worth?' threads and "Who Can Sell Me A . . ." posts.
I have acquired this distributor, which I believe is off a T3 engine:
Bosch JFUR 4
0 231 167 014
VW 311 905 205 T
It has centrifugal and Vacuum advance, and the vac can has another connection for retard.
Would it be suitable for a T1 AD engine , or a 1955 cc stroker ?
Nothing is foolproof to a sufficiently talented fool
It is off a T3, but it's very likely got a badly worn base plate so test it with a dwell meter first, before you throw the vacuum can away and fit a single unit. Overall you would do better fitting a later distributor ie 73-on.
