1973 VW T2 Camper Bay Window with Westfalia Interior
Bought this bay for the Mrs last year (as such the log book is in her name) and had it all tidied up with all the work done professionally at the Air-cooled workshop in uckfield but now it looks like we (read she) have changed plans and a T25 maybe a better option for the daily school run so the Bay has to go as we cant justify 3 campers.
It’s a good honest little bus not a show winner but its very standard having not been lowered at all so its quite original. Its really ideal for the show season ahead.
I have a folder stuffed full of receipts worth thousands of pounds which come with the bus including servicing mots repairs etc etc I have not added it up as the folder is stuffed full of them.
In the front the cab seats are original with no holes or tears
Sony CD player
¾ Rock & Roll Bed
Wardrobe with mirror
Original period orange curtains
Elevating roof, in very good condition no tares
1600 reconditioned engine
Mot till June 2009 (expect it to go straight though another MOT)
Lots of new panels and work completed on interior and exterior.
RAC / AA Checks encouraged, please come and view in St Leonard’s on sea
Just want to be no surprises if you want to view so as far as I am aware there are a couple of bits that need doing the first one is the driver seat sinks a bit in the middle so needs new wadding (its ok for me but I have a big bum). Secondly a couple of screws in the bed have pulled through so needs bigger screws oh and lastly the roof needs 3 interior roof rubber pull catches (don’t know what they are called but I think they are about £3 each) but I intend getting these at the volksworld show
Just checking the documents I have I want to confirm that the Log book date of first registration is 30th April 1973 although I have a letter from Volkswagen UK to confirm the date of maufacture is 10th January 1973. All cars built before January 1, 1973, are exempted from paying the annual road tax vehicle excise duty. So unfortunatly it just misses the tax free status.
