Default aint got a clue bus

this all started in April 06, the better half had just celebrated the one before life begins birthday. Trying to find out what to organise for the life begins one. "i dont want a fuss made, just family" was the response. then on tv Ben Shepard in the Xfactor splitty " ive allways wanted a camper" do you "orange & white" nothing to specific then. the search begins, usual places E&M ebay trader, they were either beyond hope or wanting my right arm in exchange.
Then im told about a bloke in East Sussex who imports em from Oz, i go to see his alladins cave & strike a deal.
November 06 i take my newly purchased Kombi to my mates workshop & park her up.

27-12-06 theres room in the workshop for me to start.
a 1974 Kombi 1800 Australian import

Australian body repairs leave a lot to be desired, painted in a loverly commercial acrilic blue gone flat, start sanding back the paint to find filler work a plasterer would be proud of, sliding door lower half inch deep full lenght dent full of filler, o/s/r qtr touching inner frame full of filler, grinding out all the filler must have shed 15-20 kilo's. my cover story was "im restoring a Karman Ghia with a mate & we will split the profit when we sell it" 5nights a week & every saturday till easter weekend 07 panel beating & de-rusting .
Good Friday 7am i start masking the dash & wheels, de-greaseing. 12noon i start with high build primer.

6pm ish i start flating the primer, 2am i start painting from the waist up,

6am time to go home.

Easter monday 7am i start masking from the waist up & over the roof, 9.30am ish on with the orange,

5 coats of paint later & a little dryin time

6 days flat out putting her back together

D-Day tuesday The life begins Birthday

i got the lot Stunned Silence,Tears then laughter & chants of "ive got a Camper" "is it realy mine" "it's orange & white" "ive got a camper".
since that day we have had the engine re-built & taken upto a 2ltr, carried out by Elite VW in Essex.
Is been converted to run on LPG, Gasure in Chester. Oh & i built an interior for it.
every time i see her driving around in it she has a big smile on her face. (sleep deprivation & paint fumes has made me soft in the head)
theres still few things we want to do but no rush!

and yes im still living of the brownie points from that day
