Default UK RHD 65 Ghia Coupe

Just a bit of background first.

I bought this car from a friend, Pete Morely (Ghia57 on here) back in June 2009. Due to work and storage costs Pete was forced to sell the car as an unfinished project.

Pete had already started a readers ride thread at the begining of this year..

Paul Day off of ere for the electrics, paul is a top bloke and has done a cracking job on both of my other cars

Dave upton on the interior, again i used uptons on my 57 ghia about 10 years ago and they did a cracking job they also did the interior on my oval and made a top job on that as well. a year or 2 ago i bought in from the US a pair of race trim seats for the front which are to be re-trimmed(red material bought)

to give a taster of the spec
guages ultra lite
brakes porsche 356b, had new stub axles made up to take the drums.
pro drag gearbox
2332cc motor, not yet sure if i am going turbo, n/a efi or what...
Wheels likely to be der steiner rads
full cage
full harnesses and a few other special tricks

the work done so far,

all welding(by steve locke)
all prep(lwa coachworks)
all painting(lwa coachworks)
chassis detailed
chassis built

gives you a bit of a idea

colour is diamond grey, it is a lowlite ghia colour
This is what the car looked like when I bought it, so I can't take any credit for the work carried out to this point.

Even though I now have 95% of the parts to complete the car, progress has been slow over the past 6 months. My plans for the car are slightly different than Peteís but not too much.

I would have liked to build the pan and body up separately but due to lack of space the first job was to get the pan and body bolted back together, then the beam bolted on, a temporary gearbox and axles fitted and then get it shell rolling.

Once the CB drop spindles and other bits and bobs had come back from the power coaters. I could assemble all the running gear up front. Which consists of all new ATE brakes, Goodridge hoses, stock Porsche pattern VW disks.

I bought a set of original gas burners a couple of years ago and had them detailed but Jon Abbott @ VW JAVE . These were originally for my Oval but as that project has been put on hold for a while I though Iíd use them on the Ghia instead.

I have also fitted the wiring loom, but it still need some tidying/finishing and although the front lights have been tested and are all working the rest of the electrics still needs commissioning.
