New Collectable VW Posters

Posted by volkszone

Illustrator Matthew Keeler has produced these new and exciting posters, taken from a series of his original paintings of toy cars.
They are on offer to those who wish to buy and own a small collectable piece of VW art history and at the same time contribute to charity.

50% of every poster sold will go to Brad’s Cancer Foundation, who have been raising funds and providing equipment, care and support to teenagers with cancer, their families and the Teenage Cancer Trust since 2003.

The other half will go towards the expense of Matthew competing in the 2012, New York to Alaska, Trans-Am Rally in his ’59 “Peking to Paris” Beetle.
In support of Brad’s Cancer Foundation, VW Heritage and SSP have generously donated the cost of printing a limited edition of 1000 copies of each design.
The posters are on sale at the very reasonable price of £5 each plus p&p.

They are available from the VW Heritage shop, , and from the Brad’s Cancer Foundation stands throughout the show season.

Santa Pod Raceway present The Easter Thunderball. Cracking Good Fun!

Posted by volkszone

2nd – 5th APRIL 2010
Santa Pod Raceway, Wellingborough, Northants. NN29 7XA.
01234 782828

Santa Pod Raceway, the home of European Drag racing has provided the perfect solution to entertaining yourself – and the whole family for the entire Easter weekend; The Easter Thunderball!

From the 2nd to the 5th of April 2010, Santa Pod will rock the surrounding Northamptonshire countryside with an unashamed spectacle of incredible racing, stunt shows and the best of Europe’s entertainers – including none other than Peter Andre!

This is the only ‘Nitro Shoot-out’ in Europe! So, if your idea of fun is watching an 8,000 horsepower car hitting 300mph in just 5 seconds, then this is the place for you. The entire weekend is packed with top-level racing including the multi-thousand horsepower Top Fuel cars, MSA pro mods and Drag bikes. If that doesn’t make the hairs on the back of your neck stand up, then witnessing the sight of two jet cars travelling at Mach 1 or Podzilla, Santa Pod’s very own Monster Truck, might just do it for you!

Add into the mix bike trials displays, wheelie cars and full bar and catering facilities and you’re talking a serious weekend of fun. Also new this year is a full-sized wrestling ring running full-on display bouts over all three days.

It’s not all high-octane madness however, with much of the content of the Easter Thunderball being squarely aimed at families. Not only do kids under 16 get in free (great in these credit crunched times) but the weekend line up includes a magnificent Firework display and even Titan, the 8 foot robot who walks amongst the crowd, amazing (and scaring) kids in equal measure. Stop by the static display of famous cars from “the movies” and see the new Land Speed Record “Bloodhound” car. Plus there’s a funfair, traders, kids entertainments and mini quad rides, meaning whatever the weather does, there’s plenty for the whole family to do.

But the headline stealer without doubt, is Peter Andre – stopping by on the very last day of his tour (the 5th) to perform hits from his latest album, ‘Revelation’. With tickets for his stadium dates all but sold out, this could be the perfect last chance to see him sing live this year.

Advance tickets start at just £10 for the Friday, £29 for the Saturday and Sunday – or only £39 for the whole four days. So, once you’ve factored in the free parking, free camping, free under 16s and free pit walkabouts, it just goes to show that amusing your clan this Easter needn’t leave you penniless!

GTI Spring Festival, Santa Pod Raceway, Sunday 11th April 2010

Posted by volkszone

GTI Spring Festival
Santa Pod Raceway
Sunday 11th April 2010
01279 72 52 52

Well – it’s called the ‘GTI Spring Festival’, but the first major event of the water cooled VW season is actually aimed at every current and past model in the VAG group range. From Sciroccos and Golfs and Polos, through SEAT models, Ibiza, Cupra, Leon, Skodas, Audis – all are welcome at the show, which takes place at Santa Pod Raceway, Bedfordshire on 11th April 2010. The ‘GTI Spring Festival’ now in its fourth year, is now without doubt a very major season opener. With Sprinting (RWYB), Show & Shine, Clubs, Autojumble and Traders, it follows a simple formula which has been hugely popular. The show itself offers all day sprinting for a single signing on fee, which means you can make one run, or as many runs as you can make during the entire day. But don’t forget your driving licence (you cannot sign on for sprinting without it.)

The Show & Shine is one of the best in the country, with in the region of 100 contestants. There is no charge for entry into the Show & Shine, and it is becoming a popular show at which to debut new or revamped cars after the winter lay off. Gates open at 8.00am with the dragstrip open from 10.00am. There is plenty of opportunity to browse trade stands, check out the autojumble and club displays, as well as watch (or even try a few runs on) the dragstrip. Overseas visitors to the show will receive free admission on production of their ferry tickets/proof of travel, so perhaps we will see a few more European visitors this year.

Santa Pod itself is just about the best venue for this type of event in the whole of Europe, meeting all international timing standards. The timing equipment is accurate to within less than one thousandth of a second.

If you are looking for those increasingly rare parts, check out the GTI Spring Festival Autojumble to see if you can find that extra bit you’ve always wanted! All of the autojumble plots are in a designated area which is filled on a first come basis on the day, and usually full of bargains for the eagle eyed buyer.

So, please don’t forget – April 11th, Santa Pod. And once again – all watercooled VWs are equally welcome, Golf, Polo, Lupo, Passat, Jetta, Scirocco, Derby, Corrado, Bora, New Beetle, Sharan, Octavia, Fabia, Cupra, Leon – the list goes on. If you are a VAG lover, it’s the one day show for you!

Blagged By Brian

Posted by volkszone

In a similar deal to the recent BOC Gases and Boothby Taylor deals, Volkszone has managed to negotiate some healthy discounts for VZi members with our very good friends at Just Kampers.

We hope to bring VZi’s members these deals/discounts every month and the very first one starts from one minute past midnight on Monday 15th March and will end at midnight on Sunday 11th April when after that time the discount will cease and prices will revert back to the full RRP. However, a brand new deal on different products will then start for a month from Monday 12th April. We hope that all makes sense.

The first of these kind offers from Just Kampers is a full £20 discount on any/all of these three very stylish retro coolboxes – the perfect accessory for your Bug or Bus for the coming show season. Keep those beers or colas cool while you sit on the bank at anta Pod watching the racing. They come in three sizes, with one bound to suit each requirement (please click the item numbers for links.)

Once you have chosen the coolbox you would like to purchase, before ‘checking out’, you will need to enter a code to receive the £20 discount. This code can be found
HERE in the thread on

Once again, we would like to say a huge thanks to Mark Reynolds and his team at Just Kampers and those behind the scenes at Volkszone that made these great ‘blags’ possible.

Please visit Just Kampers website: for more bargains and watch this space each month for details of further ‘Blagged By Brian’ discounts and deals.

Finding the Right Deal on Car Insurance

Posted by volkszone

Choosing the right deal on car insurance is an aspect of car ownership
that can be one of the most important decisions you make. Insurance
companies take a lot of factors into consideration when calculating
premiums, and by keeping an eye on these you could help yourself save
money on future policies.

When it comes to car insurance, there can be a lot to think about with
regards to finding the policy that’s right for you. Comparison services
like can be a useful resource when searching for a
cheaper deal and it can be worth shopping around to find a policy to
suit you.

If you are thinking of buying a new car, it can be worth doing some
research beforehand in order to try and save yourself some money on your
car insurance. Be sure to check which insurance group your car falls
into, this will help to give you an idea of how much you can expect to
pay for your premium. Steve Sweeney, head of motoring at advises that: “The lower the insurance band, the
lower your premiums – so search the Association of British Insurers
(ABI) database before deciding on the vehicle for you.”

The price of your policy will depend on certain factors – including the
age and make of your vehicle, engine size, location and also choice of
storage at night time. By taking steps to keep your vehicle safe and
secure – including fitting additional security such as immobilisers and
steering locks – you can help yourself save money on your premiums by
proving to your insurer that you are taking steps to reduce the risk of

Vehicles that have been modified are usually more expensive to insure,
whether it’s to add power to the engine or the addition or expansion of
the vehicles bodywork. If you are considering adding anything to your
vehicle it can be worth double checking with your insurance company
first to check any additional costs before committing to any
modification work.

Driver age can also play a part in determining the cost of car
insurance. Younger, more inexperienced drivers usually find it a little
more difficult to get a cheaper premium; however, accumulating a
no-claims bonus over time through careful driving can help to lower
premiums in future.

By taking the time to double check a few things and doing a little
shopping around to find a deal to suit you and your budget, you can save
yourself some money on your car insurance.
