After 4 months of searching I finally found the one I wanted
1987 US Vanagon Magnum Edition
2.1i Auto
Electric windows and mirrors
Air conditioning (!)
Power steering
It flies, but the fuel economy is shite to say the least!
These pictures are as it is, I've just bought clear front indicator lenses, a SA lower grill, a lamp grill spoiler, a set of refurbed Design 90's with Continental Premium Contacts, adaptors, and I'm about to order a 60mm lowering kit.
As I do the work I'll stick more pictures up.
Future plans include removing the air con and fitting a electric webasto roof, and kitting out the interior with a decent sound system and TV for PS2
Stripped interior, all seats, rock and roll bed, etc
Stripped blue tint from windows, what a bitch of a job but done now
My girlf spent 5 hours with an industrial carpet cleaner on the seats (all 7!) and started on the carpet. So much dirt came out, would recommend this to anyone, only £15 for the day
Tried an alloy to see if it fits, but my bolts are too long
Also found out there is already the wiring in for a leisure battery which is a bonus
I have ordered a 60mm set of uprated springs and shocks, sorted wheel bolts, and all the other parts have finally arrived. It goes into the specialist next week (Brickwerks.co.uk) to have some little bits of work on the suspension and steering, wheels will be fitted at the same time and the tracking done properly (amazing the number of lowered cars out there that have never had the tracking done following lowering!!! )
Also got a CSP polished stainless tail pipe which is a bit fatter and will look good if nothing else. Hopefully will be sorted in time for big bang, then all it needs is ICE and an electric webasto roof after I've removed the aircon
And then maybe some small kind of camping unit so I can make a cuppa... never ending. Will post pics as the mods are done.
The compressor is missing, but you can get those fairly easily... the reason i'm removing it is for more storage space (rear roof cupboard) and to fit the sliding roof (the air con is roof length)
Plus I get under 20mpg without it on
Air con (everything apart from compressor) for sale if anyone is interested....
I live in a cul-de-sac and you can't see it from the main road. I'm about a 30 sec walk from the Dexter pub - where do you live? I have yet to meet a dubber from leeds, I go to doncaster for my 'vw fix'
