Ok so today lost gear selector.
Turns out this small pin bolt has lost thread on the metal polybushing thread looks ok on pin.

Wondering what u recommend as fix.
1 drill hole through gear box selector rod put bolt nut on.

2. Drill and tap housing of polybush to m8 and i can turn new bolt with tapped end.

3 other suggestion

Thanks steve

Just buy a new coupling, they're only a few quid
Try to get the black rubber version rather than red urethane

That's a repro coupling made from the finest chineseum. They are awful quality, had one myself once.

Get a genuine VW coupler (even a used genuine one, Megabug maybe ?) and if you like, push your red urethane blocks into it before fitting.

Your bolt looks like a genuine one as it has the hole through so you can lockwire it to prevent it loosening.

Hard to say really just by a photo. Try VW heritage, I think they stock genuine ones.
