Loughcrew Campsite, Co. Meath
Located close to the highest point in Co. Meath, Loughcrew is a small family run campsite. It has limited facilities - one male toilet and shower (not sure about the female section) but this isn't really a big issue due to the size of the campsite. The main attraction is the megalithic cairns, passage chambers and ring forts that are dotted around the locality. The closest one is about a ten minute walk from the campsite and is located at the top of the hill which has commanding views over the whole area - it's said that you can see 18 counties from the summit. There is a passage chamber that rivals Newgrange which is aligned with the sunrise on the spring and autumn solstice. It's much less busy and less commercialised than Newgrange and entrance into the chamber is free.
