Geotechnical Drillers

We are looking for candidates who have experience of marine heave compensated drilling techniques, together with a fundamental understanding of weather, swell and tide implications for the drilling process.



As a Geotechnical Driller you will install and operate drilling equipment at drill sites, both on permanent and vessel of opportunity drill platforms. You will operate the drilling equipment, whilst maintaining clear lines of communication with the Drill Supervisor and downhole operators for the efficient and safe advancement and recovery of the borehole and PCPT and sample equipment.



You will also monitor mechanical systems in operation, and on instruction adjust components as necessary to ensure efficient and safe running. You will also be responsible for mobilising and installing drilling machinery and equipment using workshop and site power and hand tools with reference to oral and written work instructions.



Further duties will include the installation of drill derricks, drill floors, hoisting cables, hydraulic components, mud pumps, air banks, transmissions, diesel engines and other equipment on permanent and vessel of opportunity drill platforms.



As well as set up and operation of equipment, you will be required to disassemble engines and mechanical units, using hand and power wrenches and other hand tools. You will be required to supervise and assist in the maintenance processes and make suitable records of the work carried out.



As an individual, you will have the ability to communicate effectively and contribute to the team with your attitude, skills and experience. You will also have a high regard for Health & Safety and its practical application in the workplace. Flexibility and adaptability are also important, as you will be expected to travel to offshore vessels in globally at short notice.



Rig Mechanic

Reporting to the Geotechnical Drilling Supervisor, you will be responsible for the maintenance and repair of offshore heave compensated drilling equipment. This includes running a planned maintenance system, making sure that there are adequate stocks of equipment and parts required for the maintenance system and breakdowns, as well as ensuring that all equipment including lifting and safety equipment is certified and fit for purpose.



You will report any mechanical or maintenance issues to your line manager, along with any safety concerns that may exist in the working environment. You will be expected to work with the designated HSE Advisor to ensure that issues are resolved in line with the companyís high regard for safety and its procedures. It is vital that safety is at the forefront of any work you approach and carry out.



Your contribution to the effective running of projects, the communication of information throughout the department and the positive support to colleagues in your team is vital. You will be required to undertake necessary training and medical testing in accordance with company policies.



The ideal candidate will have relevant industry and offshore experience, be working knowledge of maintaining diesel engines and hydraulic power packs. Experience of working with heave compensated drilling equipment would be beneficial, as would experience with Geotechnical wire line sampling tools and pneumatic control and compressors.



You will be flexible to travel to offshore vessels globally at short notice, adaptable in an ever-changing environment and be able to build constructive relationships with a wide variety of people, as well as contributing to problem-solving and team performance.



Finance Manager

The ideal candidate will be required to perform the monthly review of the subsidiary financial reports and using these to compile the monthly group accounts, finance report and cash flows. With the information gathered, you will provide support to the subsidiary companies as required, helping them improve performance, systems and controls.

You will be responsible for the preparation of the monthly report to the bank and under the direction of the Group Finance Director, ensuring the group banking covenants with regards to reporting are adhered to.

Not only will you be responsible for co-ordinating and project managing of the Group Quarterly and annual corporation tax submissions, but also the group audit. Both these functions will require both internal and external liaison with relevant colleagues, managers, auditors and Her Majestyís Revenue & Customs.

Full involvement in the Groupís business and company acquisition and sale processes is another varied and interesting part of the role, as well as the co-ordination of Group contracts for vehicle purchase, credit ratings, and other suppliers as required. You will also carry out audits of the financial controls and systems within the group and associated projects as required

We believe that the ideal candidate will have at least 3 years post-qualification experience, preferably at a senior accounting level. You will have experience of effectively and professionally dealing with a wide range of staff and clients, including departmental managers and directors. Proven experience of working in a varied and challenging role in a fast moving environment, along with the experience of bringing change into an organisation would also be extremely advantageous.

You will be a CCAB qualified accountant, have membership of a relevant professional body and preferably experience in tax and business advisory roles in an international business. An MBA or similar management qualification would also be beneficial. You will be confident, resourceful, have strong IT skills and a positive approach to queries and their resolution.

This role is based in Great Yarmouth, Norfolk, but some international travel may be required.




Pysical Oceanographer

This role covers a wide variety of tasks, from project start-up to final report delivery. Your main responsibilities will be;

∑ To perform deployment and recovery of oceanographic equipment, both from Gardline and client/charter vessels

∑ To assist with maintenance of a wide variety of instrumentation

∑ To analyse, process and interpret oceanographic data

∑ To produce written reports to a high standard

∑ Communicate information with a variety of internal and external departments, suppliers and customers

You must be flexible in attitude and skills and able to work both as part of the main survey crew, or independently on a third party vessel. Some projects working alone overseas will require a high level of self-reliance and confidence, so your ability to find solutions and seek advice is critical.

The ideal candidate will hold a relevant qualification in oceanography or closely related discipline and possess excellent IT skills and an understanding for the technical aspects of the equipment and data collection. The position will typically involve around 60 days offshore per annum.

Candidates MUST be eligible to live and work in the UK and be prepared to relocate to the Norfolk area if not currently in the region.
