Very little overtaking, very little drama and large quantities of money and resource consumed in the process.
I'll admit the fastest lap angle at the end kept my eyes on the screen for about 3 minutes, but the rest was effectively just background commentary whilst I did other stuff.
Th engine noise is still a big factor for me and the lack of overtaking is no better despite all the tweaking and new wings etc.
I'll give it a few more races then likely give up and just maybe catch the odd highlights show if things don't improve.
It was very boring after the first couple of corners. The fastest lap thing was ok, but a bit false in my opinion. Really hope it's not going to be another Mercedes walk over this year. Also, bring back Ted's Notebook !
Actually enjoyed that race, plenty to watch, leclerc is a future champion, plenty mid pack cars similar in pace, mclarens up there, Renault loosing both cars time poor riciardo does he regret his move I wonder, only spoiler was hamiltosser winning by default
It's not a good showcase for race 1000. Other than the Vettel / Verstappen tussle it's been bit quiet.
edit: Merc even had time to double stack in the pit stops and still cruise to another 1- 2 finish !
Verstappen seems to have calmed down a bit, which has spoiled some of the excitement. LeClerc is turning into another Ferrari patsy and as for Ricciardo's reversing skills !
Thank God it's nearly Le Mans time !
25 years to the day since Senna died. I still remember watching tv and seeing it unfold.
Not forgetting Roland Ratzenberger who also died the day before too. It was a very sad weekend for F1.
I was at Avon Park, think it was goodguys show, Brian? Or volksworld nationals, I remember the news on the radio then the whole atmosphere just dropped
Dear God what a dull sounding race, another predictable outcome, with the live race on sky I'm not that bothered to even watch the highlights its so boring
Agreed the only thing it is fit for is winter testing. It simply isn't wide enough. I am considering not bothering with Monaco, because unless it is pissing it down there is little point.
I was at Silverstone yesterday for the Blancpain GT racing, so missed the F1. Mate I was with had the results come up on his phone and asked me to guess the first three. I guessed right ! Sounds like I didn't miss much ! Meanwhile the GT racing was proper racing !
It was a great race IMO. Particularly the long running battle between Verstappen and Leclerk.
It's easy to say that Hamilton winning made it boring overall, but the fact is that he (and Mercedes) fully deserved the victory.
History shows that teams like Renault will eventually come good for a few years (and McLaren have improved recently) meaning that although Hamilton may continue to dominate for a while longer, the battle between the rest could become a lot more interesting.
I feel desperately sorry for the team at Williams. It's that embarrassing that its barely discussed in the commentary now! I hope they can figure out what needs to be done for next season quickly, and show some signs of improvement before the end of the season. I think step one has to be retiring Kubica, which is sad I as genuinely hoped he would be able to compete but he's a way off Russell who himself is only a novice.
Season has been getting better with each race. Monza qualifying was a shambles though.
