Wind the window down slightly, clip it to the glass and wind back up.

Gave the parking light a test out in a dark garage. Seems bright enough.

The light in the speedo for the HRW has being a bit of a head scratcher today. With everything connected up the warning lamp is really dim. Removing the wire off terminal 86 on the relay and shorting it to ground puts the light on bright. The wires are all new, as is the relay and all wiring terminals. The earths are all good too.
I assume its possibly a faulty relay but checking with a test meter at either terminal 86 or 85 in the relay gives the same voltage of 12.7v.
I can't find a spare relay to check it with at the moment but as its easily accessible under the back seat and isn't an MOT fail i'll leave it for now.

Got the dash lights all wired up again, the radio and airbox back in their rightful places. Shame none of the lights are the same colour or brightness. Even the two VDO ones are different even though they the exact same bulbs in.

I remember "back in the day" my girlfriend wanted purple dash lights in her beetle. So I shoved a wrapped from a Quality Street into the tube that holds the bulb, then pushed the bulb in. It worked a treat for a while, but the colour did fade. I did get quite a taste for those sweets!

A mate on facebook posted up a link to "The book of dreams" (the argos catalogue) and the site has all the old catalogues to browse.

Some nice bits of kit in the 70s ones.
I'd love one of the gold Pifco warning lanterns.

106.25 cheque from the DVLA for road tax refund on my caravelle arrived this morning. Should pay for a few bits and bobs i still need.

I managed to trap a nerve in my back or do something nasty to it so i can't get on with the bug as it hurts to breathe deeply let alone lie under the car.

What a cool site (in a sad way). Loved looking the 70s ones - some cool gear at even cooler prices

I love looking at old catalogues and ads in magazines from the 1970s.
Spent a couple of hours looking for old Cartune ads for Martin who runs Cartune.co.uk
Found these from July 1975. 49 for 5 alloys seems a good price to me.
