Default Lake District- Duddon Valley.

Turner Hall Farm (Tel-01229716420) in the Duddon Valley. Basic but spectacular.

Spotless hot showers and toilets. Hot and cold water. Pub 600 metres away. That's it. No hook up's, no freezing facilities, no marked pitches, no shops, etc. As close to wild camping as you can get on a site.

Without using the car you can reach the Old Man of Coniston the quiet way. Cringle Crags and Bowfell if you're good.

It's a Marmite campsite, you love it or hate it.

It's the top field in the centre of the picture. You might be able to see my van.

Things to bear in mind.

Anything that has been hit hard with a lowering stick might want to give it a miss.

If you've got an air-cooled vehicle or bigger van try and avoid the Hardknott and Wrynose Passes if possible, sat-navs tend to send people this way. It's the gradient not the road surface. Google them if you've never heard of them.

I've just been back to this campsite. It's just as it was, spotless toilets and showers, with HOT water.

Two adults, three kids, a car and a tent, 20/night.

The pub still does decent food too.
