Think I've got enough light up front now. Working fogs and spots.

Decided to give the front wings and 1/4 panels a polish and a couple of layers of wax.
Front wing was sanded again and compounded to remove the orange peel i'd missed too.

I want to add chrome finger plates on the doors and bonnet as the paint was scratched to hell under them. All you need is one numpty with a ring to catch the paint under the handle.

I got offered a series 3 land rover running chassis cheap after a tree fell on it, but i've no space to keep it. I quite fancy building up a landy though. Panels are available pretty cheaply secondhand, its just the bulkheads that go for silly money.

My caravelle is sat needing new oil seals and a gearbox replacement, plus a few spots welding up and some paint so theres enough to keep me occupied for a while.
Its outside though and the weather won't stay good for more than a day or two.

Spent a bit more time polishing and waxing the rest of the shell this afternoon. I keep finding spots of orange peel.

Think i need to give the polished rims a bit of a cleanup and some polish as theres some marks.

Interior is now done with both door windows able to actually be wound up with the handles.
Still need to replace the 1/4 light rivet on the passengers door but not sure how to do it. I've got a rivet and washer but unsure how to compress it.

Every time I’ve done the quarter light I’ve used a stainless bolt with nylock nut. Looks fine to me.

Drivers side still has the rivet but passengers side one seized and broke so has a little nut and bolt. I bought a rivet as part of an order i put into VWheritage years ago and just found it again.
Someone mentioned using a ball bearing to spread the bottom of the hollow rivet so i'll give it a go and if i f**k it up i'll just use the nut and bolt again.

I tried to use a ball bearing to spread the bottom of the rivet and it just split so i'll stick with the nut and bolt for now.

I found some old piccies of my bug from about 20 or so years ago.
Theres even a rare picture of me.
