Readers Rides Post pics, specs and build-up stories of your vehicles - or even your garages here. Also interesting stuff about your 'daily drivers' etc. or interesting cars you have seen on your travels, even motors-based TV shows you can recommend. Please, no 'For Sale' or 'Want To Buy' ads, plugs for your 'business', links to 'for sale' ads or Ebay links to your (or your mate's) auction (use the VZi 'Classifieds' section) - this also includes thinly veiled 'What's My Car Worth?' threads and "Who Can Sell Me A . . ." posts.

Not all mex bugs of that age were velvet red ones, which was a limited edition. It’s probably cause they stopped importing them into Germany in85.

Yeah, mainland Europe stopped getting them in ‘85/86 so they became less easy to ‘locally’ source. I guess people took advantage of this and bought them whilst they still could.

Nice buy Ady, I just had a nosey on eBay. Looks like you’ve got a cracker

I know they'd the decals on them, what was different about interior?
A mate had a really tidy one a few years back but I can't remember what seats were like, had it in my head they'd the houndstooth too.

I had one a few years ago. The interior was ahem, ‘unique’ (read ugly) to the Samtrote (velvet red) editions and looks like this:

Any plans for it?
It looks lovely as it sits though, like a sunbug or GT even.

Initial plan is to get an mot, current one expires at beginning of Nov but not expecting anything major, only other thing im considering is fitting front disc brakes, not a lover of drums all round but other than that, im thinking of leaving it as it is as its such a clean and tidy example
