PGN 817E Standard Split bus
PGN 817E, 1967 12V Walkthrough model, was Harley Davidson orange and white last time I saw it.
Standard 11 window model, IRS and Bay balljoint front end when I had it. Paris Beetles sliding full length sunroof in white.
Was in the bournemouth area.
Would love to know where it is now and how it's going.

Would you be able to send me a copy at all? picture of the picture perhaps if it's an old school photo?
Would be great to see, I spent my gap year before Uni restoring her (97/98 I think), regret getting rid of it of course.
Any one else know it's whereabouts now?

PGN 817E
Hi, I used to own PGN 817E around 1990. I bought it around Mansfield way, and drove down to Sussex on the strength of a booked MoT.
The van was a heap, but I only paid £300 or so. The floor and sills were completely rotten, and my mate and I lost heart after hacking into it... as you do.
The guy that bought it took it down to a VW specialist on the South coast, who later turned up at my parents demanding payment as the guy had apparently done a bunk.
It was a 1600 single port, with walkthrough. It had what appeared to be a Devon top and interior, although the interior may have been a homemade copy. I've found a couple of photos, which I've hopefully managed to attach.
All the best
Dave

That's brilliant many thanks for those.
It clearly changed a lot between you and then me owning it.
I had to redo some of the welding but was mostly solid but did need a few chassis sections and quite a bit of tidying. Also most of the paint was gone and the handle resesses had been welded up (frenched).
There was still some remains of the Devon interior which I repaired and worked out well.
I brought it from a vw garage on hayling island near Portsmouth. Guess that may have been the one.
Thanks again
Rich

Hi Rich, glad to hear the bus is still going! On reflection I think the garage was Beetlewerks, who apparently have a fantastic reputation (not) https://www.volkszone.com/VZi/showthread.php?t=377833.
In the pics you can see how far up the side we cut to get back to metal once the cover-sill came off, and there was about 1/2 inch of pug to try and blend it in. The second pic shows how wobbly the sides were. I take it that's all sorted now, must have been a big job!
