I hope this is ok to post in here (sorry if this is not the right section for such a post, feel free to move if not)

I like to showcase a little side project that I have been working on for the past few years. Its an expandable card game that I invented called Ulandi Wars. Am hoping to launch the game on kick - starter which is crowdfunding platform for creative arts etc.

The game can be played with 2 or more players and the goal is to destroy your opponents hero card. Am going to launch the game as a core box set which will content everything you need to play. As well as this am also writing a novel and a succession of short stories to go with the game. The novel will be set in the same fictional universe that the game is set. I always wanted to create an amazing world so the players can really get a feel for the universe in which the game is based.

Anyway onto the art bit. With the game being a collectable card game we needed lots of different character art creating. The core box set will have 100 playing cards (2 x 50 card decks) and 50 events cards, that 150 cards in total and each card needs its own individual artwork!

I hoping (if its OK with admin) to use this thread to keep anyone who maybe interested in the game design process, Sci- fi Artwork and general sci-fi writing to showcase (showoff!) what we have created for the game.

So this was the first character artwork that we created, this is Major Felix Grinrod. This character will be used as the Hero card for the Grand Alliance deck

This was the second fully completed character, Jargo. This character is scientist card, again for the Grand Alliance deck.

Thanks for the kind words,

Iv just published on the website chapter 1 from the book that am writing. Nordel is going to be our first novel in what we hope to be a trilogy of books. This will be a long-term project running alongside our main goal which is the design and release of our main Ulandi wars core box set.

Am really excited about writing the stories and creating the background and lore to the characters in game, so much so that its kind of taken over the game design side for the time being!

If anyone wants to have a read then it can be found on my Ulandi wars website.(link below) I apologise in advance about the spacing of it as wordpress didn't seem to like the paragraphs and spaced it out automatically. Am working on how to fix it but am new to setting up websites!

Thanks for the comments folks

We've now finished the main playing cards. The next step will be the design of the events cards which are another element to the game. Below to a post from my website explaining the 'evolution' of the card design process.

Using the word 'evolution' feels a bit strong considering Ulandi Wars is only 12 months old! But to us it does feel like a huge step to forward. When I first came up with the concept for the game, I was unsure on how far it would go. I already had a busy life with a full time job, wife, two kids and various other hobbies that take up most of my time. In my heart I wanted to design and create the Ulandi universe but I felt that I would never have time to do it and it would always be a dream.

Fast forward 12 months and we now have fully completed playing cards! card art, a website and social media accounts! The dream is slowly starting to become real!

I called this blog post evolution of the playing cards because on Monday the 18th January 2021 we revealed to the world the finished designed. It feels a huge step from were we started.

It's been a long time since I last updated this post, (almost a year!) As you can imagine we have done a huge amount of work on the game over the last 12 months.

We have finished nearly 75% of the character card artwork (Over 60 images), redesigned our main battle cards, finished our play testing, completed the rules, designed and finished our event cards, completed our dice designs, started our box design and probably done another 100 jobs that I can’t remember right now! In short we've made a huge amount of progress!

This is our first ever kick-starter, in fact it's our first ever game design (Not counting the board game I designed at school) and it's been a hugely exciting process. If anyone is interested we have been writing a news blog on our progress which can be found at www.ulandiwars.com It’s a bit like a diary of our progress from the start when we first created a facebook page for the game right up to today's latest news blog about our most recent progress. If anyone is thinking of launching a game or designing a new product, our news blog may be worth a read.

Some of our latest art work, as always we love to hear any feedback
