Been busy mucking about with my bugs engine.
Just needs the exhaust fitted and a set of plug leads to get for it and i can start it up.

Fitted the cylinder head shrouds and found a bit was missing off one.

Small piece of metal welded on to fill the gap.

Should have really painted the back of the fanhousing when i did the front but ho hum.

Just cut open my bugs exhaust expecting to see the internals like this with baffles that are easily removable:

but instead the main pipes are just crimped over on the ends and have holes drilled in them.

Looks like this:

The wonders of crap reproduction parts never do cease to amaze me.

That cannot be at all good for performance.

I'm gonna just cut the crimped ends off the pipes and maybe drill a few more holes.

I gave up on repro parts and make my own whenever possible from sheet steel.
Can't afford hooky's or gen VW parts most of the time.

Well i couldn't get a grinder in there so had to use a dremel tool instead.
Managed to cut half the crimped ends off but the discs on the dremel weren't big enough to cut all the way through.

Cut these little blighters out too.
