Chat/Discussion Kind of like a VW club online - you can sit in our virtual pub and talk about whatever you want to. All opinions are valid, but please no insulting (other than to our intelligence,) abusive or libellous posts. Please feel free to post your opinion on any given subject, but also be aware that others have the equal right to disagree with you - and some will certainly tell you so. No 'For Sale' or 'Want To Buy' ads, plugs for your business, links to 'for sale' ads or Ebay links to your (or your mate's) auction (please use the VZi 'Classifieds' section) - this also includes thinly veiled "What's my car worth?" threads too (please use the 'Dude! What's My Car Worth?' forum) - and please don't use just to post links to other VW forums or websites - we are aware that other sites exist (obviously), but blatant 'plugs' (poaching) will simply be deleted.

Self employed sparky,
I’ve been doing a refurbishment in a massive nursing home which has ground to a halt, another customer that specialises in automotive drive train pulled 900 worth of work today.
But on the other hand, I’m still pretty busy pottering around fixing stuff, I’ve still got work for the next 3 weeks. I’m supposed to be going to scotchland for Easter, I hope I’m able to travel.

Very true - and very sad.

I also predict a huge increase in both divorce - and pregnancies

I work as a robotics and automation developer in the financial sector, can work from home (and regularly do) so no drama. Boss is comfortable with us working our hours whenever we can.. So if we want to work out hours late evenings we can.
Plenty of learning material to catchup on, a number of personal projects also... And a project car in the garage that I was gonna get on the road for the summer for blasting around before finishing some of the other jobs next winter.... Might as well keep going!

Other half can also work from home, PR and new agency, and doing Computing AI at unit (masters and wants to do her doctorate after) set her up with the box room as a study a while back but she never really used it.. Last few days working from home she tried to do it from the sofa, nothing but complaints about her back etc... Convinced her to give the study a try and boom, she was working up there for nearly 10 hours straight (work then uni). Back problem gone, and ironed out a few niggles she had with the room already.

Boy is off school as of Friday, so need to fit his education and fun times in around everything else..

Got a dog that needs walking to, but that keeps me sane... Can escape and walk him for a bit locally a few times a day. Avoid people. Sorted.

Only worry is my parents, 90 miles away and both have bad health issues.. Community around them is good and they have lots of friends who are keeping an eye out so hopefully all will be well.

Tomorrows job is printing a load of cards for neighbours giving my phone number and email offering to help if we can.. Hopefully some of them will return the offer. If we all stick together we can get through this. Its gonna be shit, but has to be done.

We have children who have free school meals so we need to make some provision for them. Also, key workers, we may need to open up for their children, as a senior school, this only really affects the younger children
However, it will be easier! But I can catch up on jobs and paperwork...

I may just drive my beetle to work more!

Time to call in some volunteers, person per room and decorate!

All the local painters/decorators will have near zero work as of now.. I bet a deal can be done.

Its an offer I have already extended to all my friends on facebook... If your stuck just ask, we might be able to help. And even if not, it helps people knowing they are not alone. And if we cant help then someone else probably will. It *is* going to be shit, and a lot of people are going to feel isolated and afraid. If we all just do our best to look out for each other at some level it will make things easier.

Its likely to result in compulsory curfues at some point, and will probably go on for months.. So lets all stick together and try to do what we can to help.
