How many miles do you do a year in your old dub? - Page 3 - VW Forum - VZi, Europe's largest VW, community and sales

Chat/Discussion Kind of like a VW club online - you can sit in our virtual pub and talk about whatever you want to. All opinions are valid, but please no insulting (other than to our intelligence,) abusive or libellous posts. Please feel free to post your opinion on any given subject, but also be aware that others have the equal right to disagree with you - and some will certainly tell you so. No 'For Sale' or 'Want To Buy' ads, plugs for your business, links to 'for sale' ads or Ebay links to your (or your mate's) auction (please use the VZi 'Classifieds' section) - this also includes thinly veiled "What's my car worth?" threads too (please use the 'Dude! What's My Car Worth?' forum) - and please don't use just to post links to other VW forums or websites - we are aware that other sites exist (obviously), but blatant 'plugs' (poaching) will simply be deleted.

strewth! At 5 years insurance and MOT at what I pay that would work out at a running cost of 18.87 per mile not including fuel!

I was gobsmacked as between MOT'S I'd done just under 5 thousand and the bay wasnt running last year for most of it !
It will probably clock up around 8k this year as he's up and running although not my daily drive (t5) which does around 12 k a year surprising when I work from home !

Only managed around 400 last year. Aiming to do more this year.

Does everyone's Classic policy forbid driving your Bug to work or just mine?

I am tempted to on a nice day but haven't in case the worst should happen. Wouldn't want to be uninsured.

Just back from an awesome European trip in my 1970 Bay
Went from Lincoln to Folkstone, Calais, Belguim, Germany, Switzerland, Luxembourg and then back to Lincoln.

Was about 2500 miles over 2 weeks - averaging around 8/9k a year in the bay and only about 2k in my daily use Bora!

About 4000 miles a year in the split and then about 5000 a year in my daily and about 8000 a year in mrs Empi's daily.
I love it when you get these cars in the daily drivers class at shows and it's obvious that probably do about 200 miles a year and live in a heated garage most of the time
My split gets used all year round up until they salt the roads. It probably gets used more in the winter as that's when we do most of our camping when the surf season is here. Generally good weather = shit surf but shit weather = good surf so we are often to be seen on the M4 in the howling rain SW bound.
