Stayed here a few times now, its a small family run camp-site in the Eskdale valley. Its a bit off the beaten track so tends to have space even during busy times, We managed to get a pitch on the day during a back holiday weekend
The site is a Camping and Caravanning Club Site so there is an additional charge for non members of about £6.
The camp-site is at the bottom of Scar Fell Pike with views of the fells all around. Good for people who like to walk on the fells. Hard Knott Fort is just up the road for some local history, and the Eskdale narrow gauge railway is just down the road.
The facilities are first class including a well stocked licences shop, laundrette, drying room, and FREE showers. There are two pubs within easy walking distance of the campsite, both serving good food and real ale
A word of warning; If you are navigating there via SatNav, it may well take you over Hard Knott Pass - I would not recommend this in a camper, i have driven it in a modern car and it is INCREDIBLY steep! There are directions on the web site on how to get there without going over Hard Knott Pass. We followed these directions (over Ulpha Fell) and had no problem in our '72 bay.
