Aircooled Mechanical Tech A Q & A Forum devoted to Aircooled Mechanical Issues. Got a problem? Then ask in here. Please, no 'For Sale' or 'Want To Buy' ads, plugs for your 'business', links to 'for sale' ads or Ebay links to your (or your mate's) auction (use the VZi 'Classifieds' section) - this also includes thinly veiled 'What's My Car Worth?' threads and "Who Can Sell Me A . . ." posts.

Default Crankcase split not happening!

I’m in the process of pulling apart a 1200 crankcase, this isn’t my first time on an air cooled engine but first 1200. My case is 80% split using the oil pump splitter tool but the last part is stuck solid! The sump, flywheel end is not splitting. I think it may have been glued or a stuck dowel, Any ideas of how to free this?

Is the camshaft core plug still fitted? I have seen one held in with something akin to Araldite before.

Have you removed the hidden 13mm nut down in the recess ? Flywheel end, near number 1 exhaust pushrod hole, often covered in oily gunk - it's easy to miss.
