Watercooled Mechanical Tech A Q & A Forum devoted to Watercooled Mechanical Issues. Golfs, Sciroccos, Polos, T4s, T5s etc. You know the score, got a problem? Ask here. Please, no 'For Sale' or 'Want To Buy' ads, plugs for your 'business', links to 'for sale' ads or Ebay links to your (or your mate's) auction (use the VZi 'Classifieds' section) - this also includes thinly veiled 'What's My Car Worth?' threads and "Who Can Sell Me A . . ." posts.

Default dismantling wiring terminals

on a vw t4...

i've discovered that the reason nothing works on my tailgate is because of some weird loom routing, so the edges of the bodywork have chewed their way through the insulation in a couple of places and it's been shorting and blowing fuses.

the quick fix is insulating tape, which is messy and amateur. the labour intensive fix is to chop the wires and solder in some new.

the easiest/neatest fix, however, would be to pull the wires out of the terminals and slide on some heatshrink, then put them back.

so how do you get the wires out of the terminals?

i've tried google/youtube but all i can find is people trying to sell me wiring tools that don't look like they'd work on the terminals i need to get apart.

cheers

If you haven't fixed this yet, which type of terminals are they? Can you take a picture
