Default Camping in Padstow?

We are thinking of going to Padstow camping and would love any recommendations.

Also are there any decent surf schools local to Padstow you know about, me and my 12 year old fancy a crack at it.

Never been camping but vizited afew times. I really like it. Go to rick stiens fish and chips. Yeah its more expensive nut you get what you pay for. Also there are some really nice beaches between there and Newquey along the coast.

Just got back from Harlyn Bay which is probably a 5-10 minute drive from Padstow. Stayed at Harlyn Sands camp site, which is located pretty much on the cliffs and the beach is probably a 2 minute walk away. Wicked beach in my opinion, the surf wasn't that bad and it's only about 20 minutes from Watergate Bay if you want to catch some big waves.

Also i think that there is a surf school at Harlyn bay, never used it, but it was pretty busy and the pupils seemed to be having a good time.

Harlyn sands camp site is ok, it has a "club" for entertaining the children (if your into that kind of thing) showers (wear flip flops in!), shop a launderette and a shop.

Padstow and Rick Stein he's everywhere down there.

Also, when your there have a look at Porthcothan Bay, only a 10 minute drive from Padstow.

It's actually called Padstein by some Cornish already, That side of Cornwall can be a major rip off, especially in the month of August.

It's Chav central especially Spewquay

A couple of miles from Padstow.

It is on top of the hill so a bit windy!!

Just got back from a week at Beacon Cottage camp site at St Agnes, great site, 21 per night and about 30 mins from Padstow.

Highly recommended.

Cheers

This is a great little, relatively undiscovered site, basic but clean and very quiet:

http://www.denniscovecampsite.co.uk/

The key is to get up early enough to cycle (bike hire just up the camel trail) into town before everyone else does, get supplies for the day then head over to the quiet but beautiful estuary beaches, stop off on the way back for a beer or 12 watching the masses slowly depart, then wobble bike back to the campsite - perfect.
