Default Wheels for early bay too wide?

Just after a little advice on wheels for a 70 early bay. I have bought a set of empi 5s replicas 5.5j 12et with 195/65 tyres on. Trial fit this morning and they seem to be a touch too wide for the rears. The rear arch will rub the tyre if the suspension goes down below the top of tyre line. Is it that the tyres are too wide or is the et incorrect for that vehicle?

Mine did that with the same same wheels and same size tyres. I had to swap to 185/65/15s on the back and these just clear the arches.

I had a similar issue, I think the problem was repro rear arches welded in badly and had too much lip curling under. We trimmed the lip a bit with a angle grinder and that gave the clearance. It was only a very slight rub beforehand though.
