Painted the step in the caravelle this afternoon.

Been trying to remove the shift rod from the tunnel and failing miserably. Surely it should just pull out of the front once the coupling is undone.
It slid so far forwards but not far enough to reach through the hole in the front.
I did remove the clutch cable and this handful of crap though.

Made a dolly for the pan from a cut down pallet and some small casters. Makes it a little easier to roll it out of the garage while i'm working on the shell.

Sanded the passengers rear 1/4 again, filled a few low spots, re-guide coated it and sanded some more. Feels like its getting into the right sort of shape now.
Did i say I really hate prep?
The temperature was in the mid 20's in the garage today as there was no breeze. Felt like i was melting and filler dust kept sticking to me.

Couple of piccies for inspiration.

I had forgotten you had the pan to repair as well!!! Set up ebay search alerts for VW pan repair panels and see what pops up. You never know what 'but it now' bargains turn up.

IIRC, I knocked my shifter rod through from the back (the g/box nose hole) using a long bar and rubber mallet. I guess you'll be replacing the plastic bush anyway

Yep. They're not too bad really. At least 75% of them are OK.
Its Tatton park next weekend so i'll see whats there. The postage cost on ebay always ruins any bargains as stuff usually ends up more expensive that buying new and for some reason theres never anything for sale up here.

The rubber bush is in 3 bits i think from looking in the shifter hole so knocking it forwards sounds like a plan.

Wire brushed the final bit of underseal off the last wheelarch and uncovered this.
Not a happy bunny.

I think i might be able to just cut it out and weld in a strip of steel though.
I also now have the measurements for where the 2 wiring cover mounts are so i can weld them on.
