Thumbs up Wasdale Head Farm

Just returned from a trip including 2 nights at Wasdale Head Farm at the north end of Wast Water in the Lake District.

Lovely campsite, at the base of Scarfell Pike with great toilets showers etc plus a little shop that's open in the morning and late afternoon.

There was a little area away from main site for vans with hook-ups which we were in. The ground was pretty poor for pegging the awning but apart from that it was nicely secluded!

The approach road was very narrow, windy and hilly which we found tricky having only picked up the hired split an hour before hand but there were some small RVs that had managed the journey.

There's a cracking little pub 1mile north which serves home cooked food and local ales too

Overall well recommended!!

Also, thanks to the other threads for recommendations which we used to narrow down our search!!

great place to stay, as is great langdale campsite but don't be tempted by the direct route between them, wrynose and hardknott passes are pretty steep

Great site, I used it loads of time with a bike club I was in a few years back. very basic then but great. Just need to remeber a torch for the walk back from the pub as it is as dark as fook on the way back otherwise.
