Cool Baysbrown Campsite,Chapel Stile,Lake District

If its cool camping you want, in a beautiful valley near the lakes, you've gotta try this one out. Ive been loads of times now. It costs 7 per night, has shower/toilet block, wash up facilties, has a very nice, rippling river running through it(which you ARE allowed to fish if you have a rod license), and the best of all, an extremely friendly(dog friendly too) pub called Wainwrights just a 6 or 7 minute walk away.

To get there, you have to go through Ambleside (A591), carry on, on the A593 through to Skelwith Bridge(google maps wil try and take you up round Loughrigg but this is longer and ALOT narrower). At the pub as you come into the village, take the right hand fork, which will take you past Elter Water on the left. After about 1.5 miles, you will pass Wainwrights pub also on the left, carry on through the village, past a row of detached slate cottages set up off the road on the right, and Baysbrown is on your left at the end of the dry stone wall!

Be very aware though, that if you're riding extra 'low', there is a slight hump backed bridge over the stream. My mate got in though in his slammed A4 Avant, so you might do it. If not,a more accessible site is just up the road a bit at The Dungeon Gill pub.

Hope to see you all there sometime fellow dubbers!

This site is ace, it is basic but it is really picturesque laid back and really chilled out. You can cycle to Ambleside on bits of offroad track and quiet roads following the signs and there is a great walk to the wheelwright pub. Superb site and cheap.
