Near Penrith, and importantly has an on site bar in case the weather is too bad.
I've stayed there, you won't be disappointed. It has a bar AND a log fire!

There's a walk to Aira Force through a pine forest, inhabited by red squirrels. It's easily doable with a toddler strapped to you. A bit much in a pram.

Enjoy yourselves.

Sounds promising, and thank you.

We’ve been to Aira Force quite a few times so it’s good that it’s within walking distance.

I’m going to cheat and pre-cook at least one meal so we can just heat it up as I don’t know how practical cooking outside will be! Probably something with a lot of chillis in!

The main field is quite exposed, so you do get wind blowing. Although, it is surrounded by stone walls and trees, so there's cover. I doubt it'll be full, so you should be fine.

*The last time we went was before they built the wooden pods, so things may have changed. We also got a morning wake up call, when a couple of jets came tearing up the valley.

If I am woken up by anything other than my son I’ll class it as a success!

Cool

I forgot to update this!

We all had a brilliant time and the campsite is highly recommended. It was cold and a bit wet, but that didnít spoilt it at all.

Even a muddy dog wasnít a problem after a quick hose off back on site.

Off again camping in a few weeks.

And our 16 month old pretty much slept through from when he fell asleep in the pub at around 8.30pm to 6.30am the next day.

We had two hot meals in the van too, and did a fantastic drive through the northern Lakes over Honnister Pass and finishing in Carlisle.

Cool stuff.

The site looks like it's been upgraded. Is the adventure playground behind the tall trees in the background? If so, all those hardstandings have been built since we were last there.

If you like that site, have a look at Turner Hall* campsite, I've put a review on here, it could be your thing.

*They don't have a website and I reckon it's all the better for it. There's plenty of online reviews though.
