Default Cage Install Questions.

I'm looking at a 6pt cage in the beetle, but still have body and paint that I'd like to do, but maybe not for another 12-18 months. Do I do the cage install as part of the planned body off resto, or can I go ahead with the cage now and work around it later. The car's solid and mot'd but looks tired and some of the previous resto work was done 'to a price' albeit 20 years ago.
What would you advise as the best order to do it?
Cheers, Dave.
