I'm surprised by that. I would have thought you'd get at least a couple of years minimum out of it. That's not good.

Is the manufacturer printed on the hose by any chance?

R7 is now useless long term against petrol with 10% ethanol content.
R9 is much better but still not ethanol proof.
Even at 5% expect problems especially if your vehicle sits for any length of time as the ethanol in the fuel separates and starts eating pipes.
Also, due to it's hygroscopic properties it absorbs water and then begins to rust your tank.
At least you can get suitable bio proof hose but it's very expensive.
I bought 1 metre or 8mm + 6 stainless clips - 40
....but it's guaranteed by the maker against degradation.

This is going to be a big problem for us dubbers and there will be fires caused by this
There really ought to be a sticky warning people of this problem and what actions to take in order to prevent horror stories.

I thought this stuff was meant to be ok with the ethanol, that was the reason i replaced it !!, the firm i bought this from said they do bio fuel hose 17 quid /mtr !!.

As you say this should be brought to everyone attention as i only found out when i found my tank ( ali spun tank on a buggy )was completely empty for the second time in a couple of weeks !!

R9 has very good resistance but its not ethanol proof.
The hose i am using is suitable for 100% bio fuel so it won't be effected by likely % increases in the future.

Good article on hose types here>
http://www.volksbolts.com/faq/fuelhose.htm

I'm surprised that it only lasted 2 years though, so I suspect it's R7 not R9.
