Alternate Engine Got a Scooby motor in the back of your dub? Or a V8? Alfa? You know a Porsche motor drops straight in - right? This is the forum for you. Please, no 'For Sale' or 'Want To Buy' ads, plugs for your 'business', links to 'for sale' ads or Ebay links to your (or your mate's) auction (use the VZi 'Classifieds' section) - this also includes thinly veiled 'What's My Car Worth?' threads and "Who Can Sell Me A . . ." posts.

Cheers Al I subscribed to yours too. Some nice info you've done.

The Subie motor is so very alike to the VW donk. Almost makes me wonder just how much of that comes from WW2 with Germany and Japan being allies or is it just pure coincidence

As I understood it....Unless its a bit like one of those tales some random dude in the pub tells you, brilliant story ....but a load of balls!!
VW sold the flat 4 design to subaru in 79 ish, so their engines are an improvement on that design. Could be balls though ha ha.

Interesting. I wouldn't be surprised as by 79 there was the wasserboxer IIRC so Subie just had to improve on this design and have a compact 5 main bearing 4 cylinder engine
