Watercooled Mechanical Tech A Q & A Forum devoted to Watercooled Mechanical Issues. Golfs, Sciroccos, Polos, T4s, T5s etc. You know the score, got a problem? Ask here. Please, no 'For Sale' or 'Want To Buy' ads, plugs for your 'business', links to 'for sale' ads or Ebay links to your (or your mate's) auction (use the VZi 'Classifieds' section) - this also includes thinly veiled 'What's My Car Worth?' threads and "Who Can Sell Me A . . ." posts.

Had another go at it lastnight, there are two lugs that need squeezed in to pull it off, it doesn't appear to be threaded like a bug. It's a late Mk2 so maybe has some newer MK2f bits.
I think they changed across the whole vw range in around 1982/3.
My 1988 caravelle has an end like this, though its held on with silicone now as i managed to snap the lugs off.

Yeah had two lugs, mate managed to get it off. Multiplug etc was fine, Corrosion around back of clocks resistors and all that sort of stuff, looking for another set but might try messing around with these in the meantime.
