Default Gamers, the big question

PS4pro or XBOX ONE S ?

Is there any difference between the two really or is it just personal preference?

Just so you know, apart from angry birds and fruit ninja I havent played a computer game since Sonic and tomb raider on PS1

I'm not interested in online multiplayer gaming so it's just for an extra line of entertainment at home, no kids just me the missus and daughter who is 22.

At the moment I'm leaning towards the PS4pro, purely due to having had a PS1, I'm looking at a bundle with 2 games, a 1TB console, 2 wireless controllers and a dock for them to charge. Will this be a decent starter?
Is there anything I should know?
Any reasons I should go for an Xbox instead?
Am I crazy at 46yrs old playing games?
any opinions welcome.

Hi mate,

I'm not a 'gamer' nor do I own any kit.

But my (24 year old) daughter tells me that the PS has better graphics and is better for the 'war'/'shoot 'em up' games while the XBox is faster/more powerful and has more choice of 'car'/'driving' games.

I dunno if that helps or not.

As for being 46 and wanting to start gaming - one thing 'age' has taught me is that this (life) isn't a dress rehearsal - do whatever you think you might enjoy dude.

Useful posts...I keep thinking of getting one, mainly to play motorbike games...so I can learn tracks for if I ever do track days. No plans for online gaming, but used to like adventure games.
My last venture into gaming was the original Xbox...which I've still got..
My friends kids came round one day so I stuck it on...the cars that were on game are now becoming classics...the kids found it highly amusing...(as did me & my mate) :-)

That`s spooky.. I have been looking this weekend for either a ps4 or xbox not having played one for many years.

Looking into the xbox bundles at around £179 with a ( free ) game it turns out that you get 3 months subscription but after that you pay 9.99 a month.

If you do not pay that ( free ) game does not work..

Bit of a con really. £50 each for redemption and battlefield v.

Think I will go back to playing Pong.

I bought Red Dead Redemption II last weekend for the Xbox and apparently it's the best console for that particular game. It's excellent and I can foresee many hours exploring it...it's massive. I'm forty two

I'm 53 next month. Still playing GTA V (X-Box 360, not online) when I get fed up with the computer even though I've finished both missions. As I've said before, when I grow up I want to be Trevor Phillips. You can find some of his best bits on YouTube.
edit: I say I've finished both the missions but according to YouTube videos there are 3 endings. Not sure what I'm supposed to be looking for though.

If you enjoyed Tomb Raider all those years ago, it's worth getting the PS4 just so you can play the Uncharted series, and especially for The Last of Us, which is a truly incredible game.

I'm 49, btw

After watching some YouTube vids of tomb raider, fallout76 and a few others I’m deffo leaning towards the PS4 pro.

It looks incredible even on my iPad screen, on a 55” 4K tv it must be astonishing.
