Chat/Discussion Kind of like a VW club online - you can sit in our virtual pub and talk about whatever you want to. All opinions are valid, but please no insulting (other than to our intelligence,) abusive or libellous posts. Please feel free to post your opinion on any given subject, but also be aware that others have the equal right to disagree with you - and some will certainly tell you so. No 'For Sale' or 'Want To Buy' ads, plugs for your business, links to 'for sale' ads or Ebay links to your (or your mate's) auction (please use the VZi 'Classifieds' section) - this also includes thinly veiled "What's my car worth?" threads too (please use the 'Dude! What's My Car Worth?' forum) - and please don't use just to post links to other VW forums or websites - we are aware that other sites exist (obviously), but blatant 'plugs' (poaching) will simply be deleted.

Both of these are being auctioned at NEC in November. There was an XL1 auctioned last year at the same event. This one has lower guide price as the interior doesn't have the best description. I'd much rather choose the Golf if I had to pick one of these.

I don't understand the attraction to the XL1 at all. Its small, weird, very expensive and its still a diesel!!

That's quite a few of the attractions. Can add rarity and revolutionary to it...and the fuel economy....hence green credentials.

This ^.

I love those XL1s - I just can't justify (to myself) the expense.

NEC Auction has some other interesting lots too . . .

Horses for courses and all that, but I would sooner have a Lupo 3L which does similar fuel economy and a flat

Or this....

To me the XL1's have that something...I have seen a lot of supercars being used on the road, but I have not yet seen a XL1 in the flesh, at a show, on the road, anywhere. I haven't gone looking, but then I haven't gone looking for the supercars.
I have TOP555 supercar dealer near me, so I see my fair share of pricey cars.

I'd pass on the Lambo, scrape a few more quid together and buy an XL1.

Or buy a few big yanks

Much as Iove supercars, they are not quite me.

Do you think all the seals etc would still be ok? Or to drive it would you need to effectively do a fuel resto on the mechanicals?

Although I imagine the buyer wouldn’t be driving it, just storing it as it is.

The RHD Alfa Montreal is a rare beast. Would be £80k~£100k when finished. Although I suspect you’d need to pump £50k into a resto depending on how complete and/or rusty it is.

My guess is it will need both the fuel system and brake system going through - if they haven’t been sorted already.

That’s all I ever seem to do with my collection these days (along with replacement batteries.)
