Default Wanted Aircool mechanic Derby/Notts!

Need a good mobile mechanic for afew hours potentially this weekend. Wanting to get my van mot'd but cant seem to get it to idle. it starts, and will tick over, but if i press the accelarator and then release, it drops then dies.

looking for someone to come help me out for a few hours and see if i can get it running like a trooper!

turn the screw in on the fast idle cam. its not an mot failure for it to idle abit fast. theres plenty of people who will have a quick look at a show and soon tell you if the carb is buggered or not.

just to add, i dont normally do that myself, i usually check the timing, adjust the mixture and idle screws until its right, but i dont recomend that unless you really know what you are doing. an hour or so on it should give you an answer to what is wrong though.

hi mate, cheers for the reply. ive now discoverd the yoyo idoling is due to a whole in one of my manifoold boots! so gonna replace these and then loook over setting up my carb.

simple one to check the wire on the carb goes to fuel cut off switch with ignition turned on and engine not running pull wire off and as you put it back on you should get a click noise if its working, also as engine is running spray wd40 over the manifold to head and manifold to carb and them boots area if engine speed increases you have a air leak. also check the throtle cable some times the guide tube comes out from fan housing and shortens the length making it tick over quicker, all simple diy jobs to help problem solve..
