Readers Rides Post pics, specs and build-up stories of your vehicles - or even your garages here. Also interesting stuff about your 'daily drivers' etc. or interesting cars you have seen on your travels, even motors-based TV shows you can recommend. Please, no 'For Sale' or 'Want To Buy' ads, plugs for your 'business', links to 'for sale' ads or Ebay links to your (or your mate's) auction (use the VZi 'Classifieds' section) - this also includes thinly veiled 'What's My Car Worth?' threads and "Who Can Sell Me A . . ." posts.

Default Long distance support on Friday - Taunton to Dover

I have a Ghia friend from Belgium who is picking up a very nice 1969 Ghia Cabriolet from the Minehead area of Somerset this Friday 22nd August.

They are driving back via the Channel Ferry crossing from Dover on Friday evening. I have recommended they take the most direct route, Taunton > A303 > M3 > M25 > M20 > Folkestone > Dover. Up to last week they hadn't been able to arrange recovery insurance and this is just a "just in case" belt & braces type of request.

He is not a Ghia novice but his wife, (travelling with him) is a little uneasy as the car is an unknown quantity. In all likelihood they will be just fine and arrive back home without any drama. However...best laid plans and all that...

If you live somewhere near this route (above) and would be prepared to help in the event of a breakdown or know a VW specialist on or in the area of the route they will be taking, could I ask you to either add your recommendations below or PM me contact details. As I say in all likelihood you won't be called on but I'm feeling nearly as nervous for them as I would be doing the journey myself.

Any help or recommendations would be appreciated.

Cheers,

John
