Here's my only attempt at astro photography!
We were on holiday last Summer and as I sat out on the patio in the middle of blinking nowhere in the Loire Valley, late at night with just a bier and pair of bats fluttering about for company I thought I'd try and set up the camera with a 30sec exposure.
A few attempts got me this.
I took about 10 photos all the same way and hoped to be able to stack them somehow with astro-photography software but it wasn't as easy as I'd hoped. You need dark frames and white frames and all this other stuff I didn't have.
What I like about this pic is you can see 'the coathanger', a tiny little asterism shaped like an upside-down coathanger (obviously) about half way between the tree top and the top-right corner of the photo.
