Alternate Engine Got a Scooby motor in the back of your dub? Or a V8? Alfa? You know a Porsche motor drops straight in - right? This is the forum for you. Please, no 'For Sale' or 'Want To Buy' ads, plugs for your 'business', links to 'for sale' ads or Ebay links to your (or your mate's) auction (use the VZi 'Classifieds' section) - this also includes thinly veiled 'What's My Car Worth?' threads and "Who Can Sell Me A . . ." posts.

yes, the intercooler is now for sale but i had to change it as it would not support the power of the new engine. This charge cooler is good for 1200bhp, uses a bosch pump with aluminium radiator mounted up front in front of the rad for the engine. Mounting the charge cooler above the gearbox also keeps pipe work as short as possible and keeps turbo lag to a minimum

This engine and gearbox were just empty cases used for mock up while the new engine and box were being built

work done to the floorpan consists of -
New best quality of floorpans
6" narrowed front beam
Rear torsion housing removed from chassis, narrowed 6", raised 3" on chassis, IRS conversion
chromolly 10 point roll cage with extra bars added to brace top of gearbox on adaptor plate
Gearbox cradle modified to include wheelie bar and parachute mounts
Seat mounts removed and custom mounts made and welded to centre tunnel to create "floating seats"
All welds, seams, unused holes etc have been welded up and smoothed in for a show condition finish.

Here you can see the new front wheels, the offset meant the front beam needed narrowing by 6"!!! If i find the front suspension is too stiff i may need to play around with removing some of the torsion leaves

Parachute mount bars exiting through standard exhaust tail pipe cutouts

Bead rolled aluminium interior shown during first trial fit all together. Black coating is a poly coat to prevent scratching the ali whilst making the panels. Panels will either be anodised silver or fully polished. All panels are held together with over 50 aluminium dzus buttons

Any chance of a pic of your chargecooler rad up front and what size you have gone for.
Cheers Ian.

Right back off my holiday now so on with the updates! Just checked all my photos and dont have any of the radiators, soon as i get chance i will take some and add them on here.

Photos of view through rear window showing bead rolled ali interior still with poly coat on.

Floorpan all painted up in a light champagne gold colour, all welds etc smoothed over for a show condition chassis

Out the spray booth and ready to start the build up

Floorpan now a rolling chassis again with 6" narrowed beam and swing arms installed. All bolt on chassis parts are again painted to show condition and painted bronze with a matt laquer for a nice contrast against the champagne colour chassis.
