2.2 litre Subaru Engine in a 1972 Beetle - Page 2 - VW Forum - VZi, Europe's largest VW, community and sales

Alternate Engine Got a Scooby motor in the back of your dub? Or a V8? Alfa? You know a Porsche motor drops straight in - right? This is the forum for you. Please, no 'For Sale' or 'Want To Buy' ads, plugs for your 'business', links to 'for sale' ads or Ebay links to your (or your mate's) auction (use the VZi 'Classifieds' section) - this also includes thinly veiled 'What's My Car Worth?' threads and "Who Can Sell Me A . . ." posts.

They're out there you just gotta look in the right places.
Usually ones with minor problems that dont effect engine conversions go cheap.

Theres plenty on ebay atm, a lib with broken reverse and good 172k engine for $300, running twin turbo lib for $400 missing front panes, one with faded paint $500, one with bad coil pack $500....etc etc

They usually always run fine its just other problems they go cheap for.

Well there ya go. Ah well was $200 for the engine and can get the gearbox for $500 and then another $500 for MS/ECU and loom so not too bad. Hmmm, if the donor is cheap enough with good box tis tempting but no storage space to strip it. Hey ho
madness is in the eye of the beholder
