Chat/Discussion Kind of like a VW club online - you can sit in our virtual pub and talk about whatever you want to. All opinions are valid, but please no insulting (other than to our intelligence,) abusive or libellous posts. Please feel free to post your opinion on any given subject, but also be aware that others have the equal right to disagree with you - and some will certainly tell you so. No 'For Sale' or 'Want To Buy' ads, plugs for your business, links to 'for sale' ads or Ebay links to your (or your mate's) auction (please use the VZi 'Classifieds' section) - this also includes thinly veiled "What's my car worth?" threads too (please use the 'Dude! What's My Car Worth?' forum) - and please don't use just to post links to other VW forums or websites - we are aware that other sites exist (obviously), but blatant 'plugs' (poaching) will simply be deleted.

Default Which VW Up is the best value for money ?

I have been thinking about a VW Up as a bit of a "run about" and I know a few people on here have either had one or still got one.

so with that in mind which model apart from the GTi is
1, the best value for money
2, most fun.

I would assume the GTi is the top of the range model, what is next in line ?

thanks in advance

No idea, but found this:
https://www.autoexpress.co.uk/volksw...p/prices-specs

Other than the GTI they are all 14.4 or 14.9 0-60. (8.8 for the gti)
Same engine size, same hp, same Co2... So probably same engine.

I had 2 ‘Move Ups’ from new in the last 5 years. They’re mid range and came with 50-60bhp iirc. I picked the ‘Move’ because they came with A/C & DAB as standard. They upped the spec after I bought my first in 2015 so my second one (2018) came with Bluetooth, alloys and a nicer interior. My second was also a blue motion stop start and was far better on fuel than my first. I saw over 70mpg on a gentle cruise to/from Wigan to Hertfordshire.

Was it fun? Dunno really, I never drove it enthusiastically enough to make that judgement. I thought they were great little cars though and I never felt short changed. In fact, after driving a new Polo and weighing up the extra payment I decided to stick with the Up.

I would’ve loved a GTi but I’m not sure you can get them (brand new) at the mo. They pulled them for a while due to emissions legislations (I think?).

Pic from the day I collected the 2018 car:

They dropped the Gti briefly because of the upcoming facelift. It’s back now.

That’s what I intended to buy instead of an Up, then I managed to get the lease price down to the same as the Skoda....and it turns out I’m a badge snob after all

Also (and I don’t know if this is still the case) the interior of the Citigo at the time didn’t have a few of the nicer bits that the Vw had. (All very deliberate on Vw’s part I’m sure). I noticed this when comparing the Polo and Fabia too; the passenger grab handles in a Polo have a ‘soft’ return on them whereas in a Fabia they just snap back.

We have a Gti - well specced and a lot of fun, plus pretty economical - took a bit of finding as they were in short supply due to Vw dropping the model but as far as I’m aware they are available to order again

Have you considered the e-up? It's made in Yorkshire
