Default 71 Bay Camper

So, since winning Volksworld I have been working and doing a few final bits on the square but today I kicked off my new project.

We have had our camper for 10 years and she was restored by Hayden back then. We have enjoyed her a lot but want to upgrade her while I am working away in the states.

Won't be a show van but a really great driver.

Today I started with taking out the engine and box, found some superficial rust but nothing too worrying as the plans are as follows:

Underside blasted
Rebuilt 3.2 Porsche flat 6 and 915 box with Jenvey FI, crank trigger ignition etc.
Air ride
Porsche brakes
Replace vinyl roof with original tin sliding roof.
Respray

A few pics of the solid van we are starting with

Think we can shoehorn a flat 6 in here?

So, I have finally found a flat 6 3.2 in the states. It just needs assembly and it can be shipped back to Hayden. Also found a 915 box while I was home at xmas.

Now I just need to find a working, original tin sunroof!

Been a while coming but van is stripped, roof has been replaced (a massive job) including some inner roof rust repairs, plus a T25 engine hatch fitted to make it easier to work on the flat 6.

Got a front air beam, dropped spindles and all round Porsche brakes being made by TransporterHaus and got rear air ride parts ready to fit once the underside is blasted.
