GETAWAY FROM IT ALL! WORKING BEACH HOLIDAY IN SW FRANCE-SUIT VW ALLROUNDER & SURFER

Had enough of the UK for bit, want to getaway, do something different for a while? Perhaps in between jobs or looking for a new experience.

We run a small fleet of vw air-cooled T2 bay-window and splits that we hire from April to September and are looking for one person (or two if your friend is interested in joining you) this spring and summer to get your hands dirty helping out but also enjoying the surf lifestyle by the beach.

Our little rustic camper garage is just 2 min walk to the rolling dunes and breakers of the atlantic ocean in a small but busy surfie town of Biscarrosse-plage (40600). One hour south from Bordeaux and two north of Biarritz.

We need a resourceful all rounder vw enthusiast who is knowledgeable with air-cooled 1600cc engines and general T2 mechanical and electrical repairs.

I would anticipate the first couple of months would be spent getting the campers ship-shape and serviced ready for the peak rental period of June, July and August. Preventing problems in advance is what we aim to do! After this it would be basic maintenance (oil changing, post/pre hire inspections) and general helping out with operating the hire business (airport pick ups, cleaning and valeting the campers).

It would suit an independent, outgoing young level headed person, over 23 (for camper insurance purposes) who would enjoy the outdoor sunny lifestyle of the south-west France. Great for learning to surf, kite surfing (lake nearby), paragliding from Dune du Pyla, biking. You do not have to be able to speak French.

We would anticipate working with someone who can be registered as self employed in the UK, responsible for their own national insurance contributions and be able to work on a short-term contract with us here in France and have valid travel insurance cover. We will be able to reimburse reasonable travel costs, living costs and can provide transport while you are here plus other expenses (paid in sterling) as agreed.

As with anything in life this is a kind of thing that you will get out what you put in. There will be no strict set hours or start times but expect weekends to be busy and long hours to be put in with short working hours and days off during the week.

We would ideally like someone to start from the end of March. You do not necessarily have to be available for the entire spring/summer period as we may be able to work this role in two parts, pre-season and during season, depending on applicants received.

If you have got this far and are interested please drop James an informal email (dublife@me.com) stating your current situation (not life story), available from/to, age, driving licence from, nationality, skills, interests, qualifications, marital status and landline number (if possible).

Thanks for reading.
James

Dune du Pyla (or Pilat), Europes largest sand dune, they are awesum, when it snowed last month there were people snow boarding down them. Just 15 mins up the road from here.

If you are under 23 but believe you are the ideal person, I can talk to the insurers, so long as you had been driving for more than tow years.

Not necessarily need to be a pro-mechanic as we have a partner garage up the road in town for big stuff and for getting them on the ramp etc.

Thanks for checking it out guys and girls
